Pre-shoot Checklist

Preparing your property for a real estate photo shoot can make all the difference. Use our free Pre-Shoot Checklist to make sure your space is camera-ready and looking its absolute best. Whether you're a homeowner, agent, or property manager, this guide helps you get everything in place for stunning, standout photos.

On the day of your shoot, it is best if no one is in the home. If someone needs to be there, please be sure to stay on the opposite side of the home away from the photographer as they move through the house.

General Household

  • All light fixtures work properly, inside and outside. Replace all burned out light bulbs *Light bulbs should all be the same color
  • Every light possible turned ON
  • Ceiling fans turned OFF
  • Clean Windows
  • Open all window coverings as much as possible
  • Remove small rugs, ie: bath rugs, hallway runners, entry door rugs, kitchen rugs. (unbroken floor space increases perceived square footage)
  • Remove personal pictures, religious & political items
  • Remove remote controls
  • Hide any exposed power cords
  • Remove all signs of pets (except fish)
  • Remove chargers
  • No wet paint the day of the shoot

Bathrooms

  • Remove all cleaning products
  • Remove all personal products (shampoo, soaps, etc)
  • Remove all trash cans || toilet brushes || plungers
  • Remove bathroom rugs
  • Remove tissue boxes
  • Shower curtains will be opened for photos
  • Remove scale
  • Remove clothes hamper

Kitchen

  • Remove trash cans
  • Remove small kitchen appliances
  • Remove paper towels/holder
  • Remove cleaning products || sponges || dishtowels
  • Remove kitchen rugs
  • Refrigerator should be blank canvas - no magnets, etc
  • Counter tops should be as clear as possible. Minimum decor is recommended

Bedrooms

  • Bed made and tidy. Only pillows & blanket as decor
  • Remove chargers
  • Only lamps on nightstands (turned on)
  • Minimal decor items on dresser (1-3) including TV
  • Corners of room empty. No small tables, chairs, baskets, etc

Outside

  • Remove vehicles from property. Park at least 2 homes away from yours.
  • Remove all trash cans
  • Remove all toys, including pool toys
  • Remove all pool tools
  • Remove all yard and garden tools
  • Remove garden hoses
  • Remove BBQ cover
  • Grass is freshly cut
  • Clean and sweep driveways, sidewalks, lanai, etc
